Audio Language Toggle

for YouTube · free and open source

YouTube's audio-language setting is account-wide and sticky. Once you pick a language, dubbed videos keep playing in it — even when you would rather hear the creator's own voice. This extension puts that choice on a keypress.

One key, both directions

Press Alt+A or click the toolbar icon to flip between your language and the original audio.

It stays where you put it

Your choice carries to the next video, so you are not pressing the key over and over.

Any language

Over 80 in the list, or type any language code. Tamil, Hindi, Portuguese, Japanese — whatever you watch in.

Knows a real dub from an AI one

When a video has both a human dub and YouTube's auto-dub in your language, it can prefer the human one.

No reload, no lost place

It reads tracks straight from YouTube's player, so switching is instant and your playback position is kept.

Collects nothing

No analytics, no tracking, no network requests of any kind. It only runs on youtube.com.

At a glance

Works in any Chromium browser — Chrome, Comet, Edge, Brave — and the shortcut can be rebound to whatever you like from the browser's own keyboard-shortcut page.
